SATURATION OF THE SOUL

Each time of rebirth, the soul is born into a blank slate, a new beginning. Yet its saturation is something beyond the physical world as is its concept of materiality and time; its maturation is made of the repetition of expansion and return—of resuscitation. In the endless plane where the soul matures it endures a cycle with a spectrum so cyclical that the beginning and end loses meaning and value
In the context of the Heart Sutra, interpreting "색(色)" as “existence”--physicality–and "공(空)" as “transition” – “energy”, we can derive the interpretation: “everything that exists does so because it undergoes change, and everything that exists does so because it changes”. If everything that exists is in a state of constant change, and it exists because of this change, how do we, who exist through transitional energies, form our existence? SATURATION OF THE SOUL is a philosophical reflection on these concepts, where the understanding of existence is intricately woven with the dynamic nature of change and the concept of emptiness, and interpreted through form and colours. Through this series, meaning and value is searched for in each individual cycle. How do we choose, or surrender to, the influences of the physical world? How does physicality feed and in turn saturate the soul?
영혼이 세계를 만나 육체가 생깁니다. 영혼과 육체는 색계 (물질로 이루어진 세계)를 경험하면서 자아도, 인연도 만납니다. 삶을 이어가면서 업을 쌓고, 시간을 다해 육체가 약속대로 다시 흙으로 돌아가면서 영혼은 자신이 지은 업에 따라 또 다른 세계, 새로운 차원에서 태어나게 됩니다. 삶의 형태는 때로는 순탄하며, 때로는 그렇지 않습니다. 그러한 양극을 경험하면서 영혼은 더 성숙해집니다. 성숙해지는 영혼은 매번 백지 상태로 태어나지만 시간과 물질 세계를 넘어 확산과 환원을 거듭하며 더욱 숙성됩니다.
반야심경(般若心經)에서 색(色)을 ‘존재’ 그리고 더 나아가 ‘물질’로 해석을 하고, 공(空)을 ‘변화’ 그리고 더 나아가 ‘에너지로’ 해석을 한다면, "존재하는 모든 것은 변화하며, 변화하기 때문에 존재한다" 라고 해석 할 수 있습니다.
존재하는 모든 것이 변화하고, 변화하기 때문에 존재하는 우리는 어떤 공(空)을 통해 색(色)을 이루게 될까요? SATURATION OF THE SOUL은 그 한번의 삶을 들여다 보아 영혼이 성숙해지는 과정을 들여다 봅니다. 물리적 현실은 어떻게 영혼을 빚어내며, 물질 세계의 영향은 우리를 어떤 빛깔로 물들이고 있을까요?
